Organizing space is one of the greatest ways to de-stress your life.
That's why a clean and open personal space is so satisfying to us.
One of the fastest, and easiest ways to get into this de-stressing process is to start with your bathroom.
When I began to de-stress my life, I started with my shower. I was tired of having bottles and products all over the place. So I searched for a hanging shower caddy (I got mine from Urban Outfitters, but Bed, Bath, & Beyond has great ones too). Absolutely all of my products fit in this caddy, leaving my entire shower area open and clean.
Extra benefit: This makes cleaning the shower so much easier because I can now spray bleach everywhere without having to move things around.
After my shower, I moved on to my medicine cabinet. I hate putting things in my medicine cabinet, because it's so dull and depressing. I solved this problem by sticking lace place mats to the wall so I could enjoy opening the door a little more. This instantly cleared up my entire counter space and makes my bathroom sink look 100x better.
If you don't have a medicine cabinet, go get a small basket that looks most appealing to you and stick all of your little products inside. Having everything grouped into a pretty basket looks so much better, and everything is still so easy to grab.
Now for a little decoration. I added a small wooden box to the back of my toilet to hold my toilet paper. Again, the boxes and decor make your bathroom look less like a college dorm and more like a home. One thing I learned is that all decor should have a function. This eliminates decoration that is taking up valuable space because each holds a function.
Next, focus on your sink space. This is the space that you (and visitors) will see most of your bathroom. Don't just have ugly plastic organization supplies. Opt for a theme. I stuck to a silver, industrial look. Once again, almost all decor also has a function (i.e. the toothbrush holder and hair clip dish).
Finally, add a towel rack that you would be happy to look at. I quickly switched out my ugly towel rod for an anchor hook that reminds me of my grandpa.
It's amazing what the minimal transformation of one small space can do for your happiness. :)
